I work at a camp and my girls are 6 (going into 1st grade) and I don’t think one of them knows how to tie her shoes. Some can’t even put their shoes on their own feet and one can’t even put her own socks on! I learned when I was 3 and I think it’s wrong of these parents to just do everything for their children, since they’ll never know if they don’t learn. What do you think?

So once I was out for a bike ride, and I saw this kid who was like 6 years old and wearing a pair of strappy 1 1/2 inch wedges! Then I was at the store today and I saw two kids, sisters I think, who were both 4 or 5 years old and wearing 1 inch chunky black boots. I thought that was the worst of it, but later I saw this one little tiny girl, probably 3 years old, who was so skinny and small and just very cute and delicate looking. And she was wearing a pair of knee-high studded black boots with a stacked 1 inch heel!!!!! How could these parents make their kids wear shoes like that? Those kids should be in sneakers or flats. And I’m not even against high heels. I love them and own a pari myself. But I don’t think anyone under 12 should wear them. I’m not old-fashioned, I’m 13 and consider myself decently stylish, but that doesn’t erase the fact that 3 year olds should not be wearing high heeled boots.
The fact that they were only one inch makes no difference. Boys dress shoes are not created to look sexy, they’re created to make the boy look like a total dork. The parents are teaching their kids that they should wear high heels no matter their age and are indirectly teaching their kids that being sexy is what’s important, because when those kids grow up they’ll learn that high heels are related to looking hot, and so they’ll make the connection subconsciously.
But it wasn’t a dress up occasion. This was at the grocery store.

I have wider feet and some styles of womens’ shoes I want aren’t available in wide, so I was wondering if I could buy the mens’ version and if they’d be a tad bit wider? My feet aren’t that wide, just a little in the toe area.
