When purchasing my New Balance athletic shoes, I went from my usual 8-1/2 to 9-1/2 because I kept feeling my toe at the end. The shoes felt fine at the store. The next day I wore them while working and within an hour, the big toe on both feet began to go numb. I loosened the laces but it didn’t help. I don’t feel I can return them after wearing them all day. Would inserts help? What caused this? My feet were sore for hours after I got home. Never had this problem with my Wal-Mart tennies.
I currently live in Thailand (Rayong) and I’m going to go backpacking starting in May through northern Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. I’m not sure if I should bring athletic shoes. I absolutely never wear them now, but I did when I did a zip line in Chiang Mai. I don’t think I’ll do a zip line again. Here, I wear flip flops every day.
Are they necessary for trekking? Is there any other unforseen circumstances where I won’t be able to just wear flip flops? I don’t want to spend money on a new pair of shoes, so it’s flip flops or athletic shoes for everything.
Thank you!
To clarify, I have athletic shoes. I just don’t want to carry around anything I don’t need while I’m backpacking
i’m having a hard time deciding whether to get a 10.5 or a 10 size shoe in these shoes: http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=282596&CategoryID=35141
i have two shoes both casual, wallabees and another type of clarks that are 10. and two other shoes that are athletic, pumas and adidas both 11.
they all fit just right
my local macy’s doesn’t sell these shoes and i can’t find a certain color at journeys.

I have been searching for weeks now for a comfortable pair of athletic shoes. I don’t want to run marathons, just get something comfortable and stylish for working out at the Y. I cannot find ONE pair of shoes that I don’t think are hideous. Example. ALL The shoes on this page are SO UGLY! http://www.onlineshoes.com/productlist.asp?ptclass=style&styleid=1&ptcat=Athletic&gen=w&attribute_value_string|AgeGroupID=1&category|1623=Athletic~category_root&category|1706=Classics~cat_1623 They’re all skinny, and ugly colors, and I hate the toes. This is the style too, so it’s like I either buy ones that look like these or wait until the style changes. Where can I find CUTE shoes?
I work long hours in a kitchen, and also commute between kitchen jobs on my bike.
I had this problem last year, finding a comfortable shoe to wear to work, standing and walking around for up to 12 hours per day. My feet and ankles were nearly crippled when i got home, and very painful…i took a survey of everyone, and everyone i worked with unanimously claimed that DANSKOS were some heavenly shoe and that walking/standing in them for 12 hours would be nothing at all.
I shelled out over 100 bucks for these stupid ugly freaking shoes, broke them in (been wearing them since December!!!) and you know what? THEY SUCK. worst, most uncomfortable, awkward clunky shoe I have EVER worn. Again, I took everyone’s advice and kept wearing them, waiting, waiting for them to finally break in and magically be as comfortable as everyone claimed. Well, that day never came. I am still in pain every single say, not to mention I am very tall and they are downright dangerous for someone who never wears any kind of shoe with a heel.
I HATE CLOGS. I think they are butt-ugly in the first place, and need recommendations for other brands/styles of shoes. I also purchased a pricey pair of Clarks, previously…which also just couldn’t cut it for 12 hour days and promptly fell apart.
I have the freedom to wear any style shoe at my current jobs, and am thinking about some type of athletic style shoe. I need suggestions on comfortable, stylish athletic shoes that will support my ankles and feet for long hours at a time.
Thanks, sorry for the long winded complaint…just want to explain why i REFUSE to consider Danskos or crocs or any of those ugly, overpriced and under-comfortable shoes an option..
