Literally, in like an hour. My son took longer, he has some motor skills issues, so he was about 6 1/2 before he really mastered the skill. Don't worry if your daughter can't always tie them herself. That's why there are adults in preschool. I wouldn't be surprised if they spent time practicing tieing in class. P.S. Don't send her to school in flip flops. Most schools don't allow it, and they can get injured on the playground in them. Make sure she has sneakers.<br><b>References : </b><br> My daughter learned when she was five. Don’t worry if your daughter can’t always tie them herself. That’s why there are adults in preschool. I wouldn’t be surprised if they spent time practicing tieing in class.

It worked in one evening. It's a bit of a useless skill for her at this point except for hiking shoes, LOL.
