Do you still tie their shoes for them even after they learned how? Not including situations where hand/arm injuries would make tying shoes impossible.

Don’t have kids, but I think I learned when I was 5. And then I did it always unless my mom was in a huge hurry or something.

Not necessarily tie it for them, but walk through the steps with them. For example, sing them that bunny song. I never learned it but my cousins sing it all the time when they’re tying their shoes.

I don’t have kids yet but I learned when I was 4 I believe. After that I did it by myself. Also, I have a friend who didn’t tie her own shoes until she was 14. She also wouldn’t put her own socks on because she didn’t like the way they felt on her hands. She’s strange though

I would say about 5 years old or a bit younger its usually requested by most kindergarden teachers that a child knows. As far as we the parents tieing them for them I don’t but my ex husband does and now my son has regressed because of it he expects idt done all the time. The only time I give in is when we are running late and he needs to get dressed quickly. Most of the time I try to leave ten minutes of time prior to leaving to help guide him through it.

i think i learned between 5 and 6 years, my 10 year old brother still struggles sometimes though. My mum never ties our laces, and never did, she showed us how to and if we couldn’t she made sure we got velcro shoes next time.
