Canadian kids (and adults) typically take their shoes off at the door when they come in the house…as for socks…to each his own.

Maybe your older son just can’t be bothered taking them off lol and also my little brother kicks them off straight away! It’s not just the upbringing which may affect their behaviour, he may have seen it at school, nursery or child minders home
Hope I Helped x

I can’t keep shoes on their feet, They even take them off when they get in the car and put them back on when we get where we are going. Then once inside if a family members, shoes are back off.

They must remove their shoes when they enter the house, as we all have to walk through dirt next to the driveyway to get into the house and we don’t want thaty tracked on the carpet. However, my 12yo, and 6yo remove their socks too. My 10yo and 8yo (only girl) don’t until they take their baths. My 2yo sometimes leaves the socks on until bath, and sometimes takes them off while watching Elmo.

Mine are the same way!! My girls take theirs off immediately, but the boys would probably sleep in them if I let them!! Weird!

My mom always made us take our shoes off before entering the house. Even if she didn’t me and my bro would always take them off anyway. We like our dogs to breathe. Besides, think about all the dirt and germs and who knows what else you are bringing into the house walking around in shoes.

Both of mine kick them off the moment they get home too! It drives me nuts because their sock get so dirty, but what is a dad to do. Hand them off to mom to wash.

But anyways, different strokes for different folks everyone is different regardless of how you bring them up

My kids like taking their shoes off when they get home. I guess socks or bare feet are more comfortable to them. They do it on their own. Its not a big deal at hour house.

I think the shoes make it off before they even get into the front door most days. I think my youngest takes her off on the bus some days by the look at the bottom of the socks. My oldest usually waits till she gets to her room, but I have seen her come in barefoot – think they come off before she gets out of the car (not allowed to drive barefoot)

My son comes home and strips down to his underwear! I keep telling him not to do so but he does anyway! Shoes are the least of my problem. LOL

Your oldest is probally distracted by other things and forgets he has them on.
