Can drying kids shoes mess up your dryer?

They are canvas vans, I normally don’t like to wash shoes.. but he stepped in mud the first time he wore them.
Can this mess up your dryer? That’s the only thing in the dryer too.
Thanks guys! The noise is very annoying! lol oh well!

I used to dry my sons shoes in the dryer all the time- that is until last year, don’t ask me how but while they were in there one got stuck against the side and one of the roter things inside which lodged the drum and ended up burning out the dryer. So after that I leave mine sit out over night or in the sun. ( my son is only 9 so he does not have huge shoes)

I know it makes a very annoying sound, but it does not mess up your dryer. If you are really concerned about making a dent in the dryer drum, go ahead and wash the pillows on your bed as well and put them in the dryer with the shoes.

If you really don’t want to put your kid’s shoes in the dryer at all, dry them overnight. Loosen the shoe strings really well, and pull the tongue all the way back. If you don’t have all night to dry the shoes, you can use a blow dryer on them, put them near your fireplace, or put them in the oven on a lower tempurature (that’s what we did 15-20 years ago when i was a kid). Also putting them outside in the sun is good if you are able to do that. It helps freshen your sneakers and saves energy.

Finally, in Woman’s Day magazine, there is a note about Sport Sox, 8-inch cedar-filled pouches that freshen shoes and can dry out rained-on shoes in two hours. They are 17.95 at cedaramerica.com.

Put the shoes in with a bunch of towels so the tumblers do not get knocked loose. Mine were knocked loose after drying shoes but it was an old dryer to so.
