    good choice on …
good choice on getting ASOLO footwear.. their larger hiking boots arnt too heavy eather. lighter than alot of brands. and very sturdy good boots, I live in Colorado and do many long hikes over steep terrain of ice, snow, rock, mud, and everything else the mountains can come up with and my Asolo boots are just as good as new and no pain after a long day hiking. that alone is worth the extra cost of them. not to mention they will probably be the last pair of boots you will ever need to buy.

Totally agree… With all the discussion about preparedness and survival to skimp on maximum foot, ankle, knee protection is lunacy. If an extra pound on your foot (ie 5 in your pack) time to hit the gym to get in shape for that critical footwear.

I live up in canada and I was hiking a while ago I wear hiking shoes and I took a fall. I was lucky to get in contact with search and rescue and I got heli lifted out of the bush later that day. I think the extra weight your going to carry by wearing proper boots are worth it any day. Especially in rocky rough terrain with chances to roll your ankle or take a fall. I sprained my ankle and tore the ligaments in my ankle. But to each is own

Go light! I’ve always hiked in a lighter shoe and never had ankle problems – if you’ve got the balance and strength built up enough. I’ve carried a 50 pound pack in hiking sandals on rough trail no problem.

Sorry I did buy one at wally but later they didn’t carry it when I wore out the one I had so I went to a medical supply place and bought these ankle devices that work great to give support to an ankle that has had problems or if you don’t want problems and want the added support. They are not cheap they cost around $20.

I only wear trail runners. I tried high top hiking boots once and I completely hated them! My favorites were some $60 L.L.Bean Gore Tex trail runners that I think they just stopped making last year.

I use to wear only high top shoes and I injured my ankles often. Then I got some low top shoes for my birthday one year . Once my ankles got use to them I got injured alot less. My only guess is that my ankles got stronger and didn’t need the support from the high tops.
Nice looking shoes. Have fun breaking them in

    You sounded like …
You sounded like Forrest Gump “I have worn lots of shoes…” Having had sprained ankle I would carry an orthopedic sock JIC you start getting pain in this area and you just slip it on and can prevent injury with the device. Not at all like a wrap it is comfortable and can be worn in a boot or shoe very comfortably. Wally has these in pharmacy. You could also get a lace up support thing that I have never tried but they support while remaining light should you need support.
