I need new athletic shoes, and play volleyball. Should I get volleyball specific shoes?

I’m doing a volleyball club, and my athletic shoes are too small. I’ve read that you shouldn’t wear volleyball shoes outside, because rocks and things might get stuck in them, but we go outside in gym class. I’m only allowed one pair of shoes. Volleyball shoes would obviously be better for my volleyball, but not gym. So should I just stick to a normal running type shoe?

If you are a serious club volleyball player, you will definitely need a pair of volleyball shoes. You can feel the difference within three hours of playing, your speed, your reaction, your jump, and the comfort of your toes, etc.

For school ball games, and PE/gym activity, all you need is a pair of running shoes.

So talk to your parents and tell them it is **very** important to get a pair of volleyball shoes for your club games, but to protect them from outdoor wear and tear, you will need a pair of running shoes, hopefully the same brand (Asics or Mizuno) as your volleyball shoes, so that your feet do not have to adjust too much when switching shoes.

Don’t EVER go outside in your volleyball shoes, don’t step on a different kind of court other than where you practice or have tournaments, don’t even wear them walking to your car. Always bring a different kind of shoe with you. I have the Mizuno Wave Lighting 4 and their great, they have good grip and good traction. I used to have the Muzino Wave Lighting 3 and their not as comfortable as the Wave Lighting 4, and they don’t have as good of a grip.
As far as not being able to have two kinds of shoes, just stick to your too-small-ones for athletics and buy a new pair of volleyball shoes, they may cost a good amount of money but their well worth it.

It depends on how serious you are about volleyball. I would be best to have a gym shoe and a volleyball shoe as there are cheap brands in both category, maybe you could get both. However if the isn’t an option, then i suggest just gettting nice athletic shoes, and checking for rocks and dirt before stepping on the court!
