I stand on my feet at work for several hours and I have a heel that hurts! It feels like a deep bruise or heel spur. What do you recommend as the best athletic shoe for heel comfort?
I am not sure if this would work for you, but I have these shoes by a company called Earth Shoes. They have this negative heel technology, http://www.earth.us/ I am sure they can explain it better than I can. I have plantar fasciitis, which is pretty much what you are describing. I used arch supports for years, which does help, in any shoe. But when I started wearing these shoes, the pain went away completely. They are costly, but so worth it. I wear them every day.

Don’t know how much you want to spend, but the best athletic shoes I’ve tried are Saucony, I bought them at Lady Foot Locker with the green inserts. I’ve had heel spurs off and on for years. You can do some exercises that will help also: Take a frozen can of juice and roll it back and forth under your foot to sooth the plantar fascia. Take a towel, hold one end in each hand, wrap the loop of the towel around the ball of your foot, and gently stretch your foot – specifically the plantar fascia (the tissue that forms the arch of your foot). You can also buy gel heel cups at the grocery store or shoe stores.

I work 10 hours a day at a warehouse so I am pounding away on concrete floors. I have chronic severe plantar fasciitis and I never wear anything but New Balance. If you can go into a NB store. The employees there know the shoes and what is best. I know you didn’t ask but the biggest mistake everyone makes at my employment is soaking there feet in warm/hot epson water. If you have PF/heel spur that is the worst thing you can do. If you are not already doing it try freezing a water bottle and rolling it along you arch and heel.
