I’m disabled and must wear braces that keep my feet at right angles (I cannot lift my toes), so I must wear low heels or flats. I cannot wear backless styles, either, because the braces would slide out. Ninety-nine percent of the so-called ‘orthopedic’ shoes are functional, but ugly as home-made sin. I cannot wear athletic shoes all the time, and I’m on a fixed income. Suggestions, please?

probably Payless shoes, Walmart, Kmart, Goodwill but it is a "hit in the dark"

make sure to GO to the store, u may look but not online wont show all shoes they have

Hope this helps! I will pray for you!

I can get the leather part clean but the mesh and the fabric parts stay dirty. I’ve washed them in the washing machine and tried several shoe cleaners and none of them worked. What can I do?

Try taking an old tooth brush with some spray n wash and bleach cleaner and gently scrubbing the fabric before washing them..also baking soda works great for whitening things to.

I have army boots and parade shoes. Is there a particularly easy and effective way of making them shine well? I’ve heard of using a flame to melt the polish but im not sure what that entails. pls enlighten.

I know its a bit lazy but Klear floor polish works a treat – get if from Asda. Only problem is it cracks if a particularly suspicous member of drill staff decides to stamp on your toecap.

It seems impossible to find shoes that look like DC court, or athletic skat shoes that aren’t made of either leather or suede. Does anyone have any recommendations, a picture of the shoe would be appreciated if you can thanks. Just a brand name will also do nicely.

With all the different brands that are out there, the shoe I was first given or actually purchased for varsity basketball was Converse with canvass uppers they have a variety of colors.

PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
A Phonic Judgement. On Thursday night, in a state of panic, DCU Music Soc asked me to judge their Intervarsity Battle of The Bands. While I may be know music critic, my ever changing musical tastes over the past few years have given me at the very least, a very broad experience of genres from rock to metal, indie to electro and the odd bit of rap thrown in for good measure. So I took to the challenge and took notes on every band… most of the bands were good, quality rock with some good covers and fair vocals. However, NCAD’s offering, ‘The Phonic Athletic’, made me put my notes away pretty much immediately. Any of you who have read this blog before will know my opinions on a bands live act… You are only as good as your live offering. Hats off to these gentlemen, their live act is nothing short of brilliant. They were the first band of the night that I would actually pay to see play. Their neon costumes, leather legg…
